SMART Group Scotland Golf Day orgaised by Jim Wilson
June 2002

It rained all day, but teams managed the 9 hole Texas Scramble from both tees in the morning, greens were almost unplayable as the course was very, very wet.

The course was officially closed about 11:30am, so Jim Wilson organised a 10 pin bowling competition for the afternoon instead of the golf.

The guest "speaker" was a comedian called Joe Camay, he went down well with the guests. Quite "blue" at times! but OK.

The sponsors agreed to have their prizes raffled off for charity, everyone at the high tea bought a raffle ticket for £5.00, and this raised £245 of which half will go to The Macmillan Nurses and half to Cancer Research.

Gordon Blair won the shortest drive at the first - minus 1 inch, he topped the ball and it fell backwards off the tee, what style.

The Team prize of the Claret Jug was decided by a putting competition between the team from the back nine texas scramble with the lowest score and the team from the front nine with the lowest score. This was won by the Alpha Fry team of Steve Buchanan, Gary Cumming, Alan Sommerville and Scott Moffat.

The Companies that were there and put up with the rain!

Assembleon, Siemens, PMJ, Heraeus, Alpha Fry, Jot, Altus Group, V-tech, BTU,Caledonian Technologies, Indium, and Loctite.

12 in total, 16 teams, 64 Golfers plus the SMART Group Team.

A good turnout in these times!!
