Alternative Energy Manufacturing Technology Seminar |
|
There has been a great deal of interest shown recently in Alternative Energy Manufacturing Technologies, so much so that SMART Group has organized a seminar on this subject to be held at DEK in Weymouth on 15th June
It is fitting that this event is to be held at DEK as their Solar PV300 metallization solution has been honored at the EM Asia Awards as a technology breakthrough and recognizes the significant role played by DEK Solar in the field of solar cell production.
Whether we believe or not in global warming and the need for carbon footprint reduction, our government and others all over the world are committed to making changes to adapt to the predicted effects. Those commitments in the UK to fund investment in “green” technologies would appear to be constant whatever happens to the future balance of the different occupants of the Palace of Westminster.
There have been two recent initiatives that can benefit UK industry from Government funding initiatives; one is to ensure the UK has the right skill base and manufacturing technologies for “green industries”. The other encourages the uptake of “green technology” sources, such as domestic solar photovoltaic panel installations. A feed-in tariff system has come into effect, which means users get paid by their supplier both for energy they generate for their own use (that they don’t pay for from the supplier) and for any surplus energy that can be fed into the grid.
In the light of these initiatives the SMART Group has put together an alternative energy UK manufacturing technology event at DEK’s facility in Weymouth, where they will show their state-of-the-art solar photovoltaic cell and fuel cell manufacturing process solutions.
The seminar speakers and topics will include:
Nigel Burtt - SMART Group Technical Committee
"Introduction - Grabbing the Green Pound"
Darren Brown - DEK Alternative Energy Business Manager
"Screen Printing Processes for Alternative Energy Technologies"
Bruce Girvan - Ceres Power Director of Intellectual Property
"Why Surface Mount Technologies Are Important In Commercialising Fuel-Cell and Micro-CHP Applications"
Mike Fenner - Indium Corp Europe Technical Projects Manager
“Photovoltaic Technologies - An Overview"
Thomas Dinkel - CEO SunReports Inc.
"Performance Based Monitoring - A Strategic Imperative"
Richard Stewart – DEK Operations Manager, Screens
"Screens for Alternative Energy Sectors - the Challenges"
The event will include a tour of the DEK facilities with an onsite demonstration of printing Solar PV cell wafers.
