SMART Group Announces Series Programme of Webinars

SMART Group is offering a range of smart-e-webinars to complement its existing training, workshop and seminar programme to all companies in the electronics industry. The Group continues to be innovative and eager to provide different types of education and support to both members and non-members.

smart-e-webinars are ideal learning opportunities for individuals or groups of engineers and will be presented by professional engineers in the electronics industry. Each session will last between 60-90 minutes and allow a cost effective alternative to existing educational events, without the hassle of travel. To participate in a smart-e-webinar all that is needed is a broadband internet connection, PC and a microphone/headset. Alternatively, for groups in a conference room, the requirement is a PC with speakers, broadband connection and projector plus conference microphone.

Online webinar topics to be covered will include:

Component technology
Printed circuit board manufacture
Stencil printing
Reflow soldering
Wave soldering
Hand soldering and desoldering
Cleaning
Conformal coating

We also plan to cover a range of advanced subjects such as solder joint and design reliability and the introduction and manufacture using alternative energy.

The aim of a webinar is to bring technology to the desktop or conference room and will allow the participant(s) and instructor online interaction, question and answer sessions, without leaving the company. Each student will receive a SMART certificate of participation. If potential delegates have a suggestion on a topic they would like to see covered or would like to be involved in presenting a webinar then they should contact: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

The inaugural smart-e-webinar will be presented by Peter Grundy and Bob Willis, both are SMART Group Technical Committee members. It will cover our four EU funded projects. The webinar will start at 10.30am and end at 11.30am on Thursday 29th July.

As an outline: SMART is currently a partner in four EU funded projects, its participation is mainly due to its success in LEADOUT one of the largest joint European projects. The four projects that will be featured are:

Ship Inspectors
TestPep
Micro Ball Grid Array (µBGA) Spheres
Chip Check

SMART Group will be running this free webinar to bring engineers up to date with these projects and will provide an outline on the future activity that will benefit SMART Group member companies and the industry. For further details on this and all smart-e-webinars  go to: www.smartgroup.org/diary
