This month Engineering Spotlight focuses on Jim Morris of Cookson Electronics on the results of their study on lead-free compatibility of wave solder baths. The full paper received the best paper award at APEX 2003 in the USA. This problem of bath erosion was discussed in the 2001 SMART Group Mission to Japan Report, and all suppliers of wave soldering systems have seen this to be an issue.
